Permits and filings

The paperwork that keeps your trucks moving, handled.

Diversified Safety & Compliance provides truck services for Nebraska carriers from our Lincoln office: International Registration Plan (IRP) apportioned registration, International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) returns, Unified Carrier Registration (UCR), Form 2290, MCS-150 updates, trip and fuel permits, and new operating authority.

Our carrier compliance team, led by Wendy Clement, tracks each due date, files on time, and sends you the confirmation. When a filing needs something from you, such as this quarter's mileage or a new truck's title, we ask before it's due. Call (402) 252-5144 and a person on our team answers, Monday through Friday, 8–5 CT.

How it works

Three steps, then we track it for you

  1. 1

    Send us what you have

Your USDOT number, current cab cards, last IFTA return, and this quarter's mileage and fuel records.

  2. 2

    We check and quote

We confirm what's due and what's missing, and quote it before we file anything.

  3. 3

    We file and follow up

We file, send you the confirmation, and track the next due date so you hear from us before it arrives.

Getting started

We'll pick up from your next filing.

To hand your filings to us, send:

  • Your USDOT number, and your motor carrier (MC) number if you have one
  • Your current IRP cab cards and your fleet's expiration month
  • Your last IFTA return and this quarter's mileage and fuel records
  • Your UCR receipt and Form 2290 Schedule 1
  • A list of your trucks and drivers

Your IRP, IFTA, and UCR accounts are in your company's name, so moving them mostly means sending us your records. If a form is needed to authorize us to file for you, we'll prepare it for your signature. Send everything as soon as you decide, so we have time before the next deadline.

Filings and drivers in one place

The same team that files your IRP knows your drivers

Your trucks need registrations; your drivers need a testing program, a complete file, and Clearinghouse queries on schedule. We handle both.

Drug and alcohol testing

Our DOT drug testing consortium is $129 a year per company. DOT drug tests are $75 at our clinics, or $95 with our mobile collectors plus one trip charge per visit: $10 inside Lincoln, Omaha, or Beatrice, or $0.70 per round-trip mile elsewhere.

Driver qualification files

A complete file for every driver, with every due date tracked, for $18 per driver a month after one-time setup of $50 per company and $25 per driver.

Clearinghouse queries

Full queries before hire and limited queries every year, $35 each with FMCSA's fee included.

Truck permit and filing questions

Where are you located?

Our carrier compliance team works from our Lincoln office at 6400 Cornhusker Hwy, Suite 450, Lincoln, NE 68507. Most filings are handled by phone and email, so you rarely need to come in. When you call (402) 252-5144, a person on our team answers, Monday through Friday, 8–5 CT.

How much do apportioned plates cost?

Our IRP renewal fee is $150 for 1 to 3 trucks, plus $20 for each truck above 3. The apportioned registration fees themselves depend on the states you run in and the miles you travel in each. We bill those fees at cost and show them separately on your invoice.

What do you need from me for each IFTA return?

The miles each qualified truck drove in each state, and the gallons of fuel bought in each state, for the quarter. Most carriers pull these from their electronic logging device (ELD) or trip sheets and fuel card statements. Send them soon after the quarter ends, and we'll prepare the return, ask about anything that looks off, and file it before the deadline. See the 2027 dates on our trucking compliance deadlines page.

Will moving my filings to you cause a gap?

It shouldn't. We pick up from your next filing due, and your accounts stay in your company's name. Send your records as soon as you decide, so we can review them and quote the next filing well before its deadline.

Do you get trip and fuel permits?

Yes. Our fee is $70 per permit, plus the state's fee for the permit itself. Tell us the truck, the states you'll run through, and your travel dates, and we'll request the permits and send them to you as soon as the state issues them. Need them regularly? Ask us about IRP apportioned registration and an IFTA license instead.

Can you set up a brand-new trucking company?

Yes. New Company Launch is built for new owner-operators with up to 5 drivers and 5 trucks. It covers your USDOT number, operating authority, state accounts, testing program, and first driver's file for one price: $1,999 for 1 to 2 trucks or $2,149 for 3 to 5 trucks. Added drivers are $279 each. It includes FMCSA's $300 authority fee and covers you through December 31, whatever month you start; taxes and IRP apportioned fees are extra.

Do you handle filings for carriers based outside Nebraska?

Our filings are built for Nebraska-based carriers, and filings for carriers outside Nebraska are available on request. Tell us where you're based and what you need, and we'll tell you up front whether we can take it on. Testing, driver files, and Clearinghouse queries work wherever you're based.
