New Trucking Company Setup

Everything a new carrier needs before the first load, handled by one team for one price: $1,999 for 1 to 2 trucks, covered through December 31.

A new interstate carrier needs a USDOT number, operating authority if it hauls for hire, state accounts, a drug and alcohol testing program and driver files before it runs. New Company Launch sets up all of it for one price.

Starting your own authority means a dozen registrations in a set order, mostly in FMCSA's Motus system and with Nebraska DMV. Miss one and your first load waits. New Company Launch puts all of it with one team.

What's included

  • Authority: USDOT number and Motus setup, MC authority and BOC-3
  • State accounts: UCR, IFTA and IRP, your first Form 2290, and every IFTA return for the launch year
  • Testing program: consortium membership, every random test for enrolled drivers through December 31, and Clearinghouse setup
  • Your first driver: pre-employment drug test, Clearinghouse query, MVR and driver qualification file

Not included: the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax and other taxes, IRP apportioned registration fees (billed at cost), and other services such as non-random tests, physicals or truck changes. Additional services and fees may apply.

On January 1, you move to the owner-operator package you choose. Our carrier compliance team, led by Wendy Clement and Angelia Tweedy, handles every step, and we're family-owned and Nebraska-based.

Starting a Trucking Company: Questions

How do I start a trucking company in Nebraska?

Register your business with the Nebraska Secretary of State, get a USDOT number in FMCSA's Motus system, apply for operating authority if you haul for hire, file a BOC-3 and proof of insurance, set up UCR, IFTA and IRP, file Form 2290, and put a testing program and driver files in place. New Company Launch does all of it.

Do I need MC authority, or just a USDOT number?

If you haul regulated freight for hire across state lines, you need operating authority (an MC number) as well as a USDOT number (49 CFR Part 365). A private carrier hauling its own goods generally needs only the USDOT number. We'll confirm which applies before we file.

How long does it take to get my authority?

FMCSA sets the timing. Your authority becomes active only after your insurance and BOC-3 are on file and FMCSA's review is complete. We start the filings as soon as you sign up and tell you where each one stands.

What do you need from me?

Your legal business name, address and EIN; a photo ID and smartphone for the Motus identity check; titles, VINs and weights for each truck; your insurance agent's contact; and each driver's CDL and medical card.

What happens after I get my authority?

FMCSA monitors a new carrier for 18 months and conducts a safety audit of its records during that time (49 CFR Part 385). Your launch setup puts the testing records and driver files the audit looks at in place from day one.

Can I buy just one piece, like a USDOT number or BOC-3?

Yes. Each filing is priced on its own. Tell us what you need and we'll quote it, and tell you whether the package would cost less.

Do you set up carriers outside Nebraska?

Our setup is built for Nebraska-based carriers. Filings for carriers outside Nebraska are available on request, and the testing program and driver files work wherever you're based.
