Our Commitment
Diversified Safety & Compliance is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure our website is accessible to the widest possible audience.
We believe that everyone, regardless of ability, should have equal access to information about DOT compliance, drug and alcohol testing services, and regulatory resources. This commitment extends to:
- Motor carriers and owner-operators seeking compliance information
- Compliance managers and safety professionals researching regulations
- Drivers and employees accessing training materials
- Partners and industry stakeholders collaborating with us
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we welcome feedback from users to help us identify and address barriers.
Accessibility Standards
Our website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) WCAG 2.1 at Level AA conformance.
What are WCAG 2.1 Level AA Standards?
This website strives to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities.
Four Principles of Accessibility (POUR)
WCAG is organized around four core principles:
- Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive (e.g., text alternatives for images, sufficient color contrast).
- Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable (e.g., keyboard accessibility, sufficient time to read content).
- Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable (e.g., clear navigation, consistent behavior, error prevention).
- Robust: Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
Additional Guidelines
In addition to WCAG 2.1 AA, we reference:
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (U.S. federal accessibility standard)
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III (public accommodation requirements)
Conformance Status
The WCAG defines three conformance levels (A, AA, AAA). Our website strives for Level AA conformance.
Current Conformance Status
Status: Partially Conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA
"Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to achieve full conformance.
Conformance Testing
Our conformance assessment is based on:
- Automated Testing: Axe DevTools, WAVE, and Lighthouse accessibility scans
- Manual Testing: Keyboard navigation, screen reader testing (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
- User Testing: Feedback from users with disabilities
Accessibility Features
Our website incorporates the following accessibility features to support users with diverse needs:
Keyboard Navigation
- All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are accessible via keyboard
- Visible focus indicators for keyboard users (Tab key navigation)
- Skip navigation links to jump to main content
- Logical tab order that follows visual layout
Screen Reader Compatibility
- Semantic HTML markup (headings, lists, landmarks)
- ARIA labels and descriptions for complex components
- Descriptive link text (avoids "click here" or "read more")
- Alt text for all meaningful images
- Form labels and error messages properly associated
Visual Design
- Color Contrast: Minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text, 3:1 for large text
- Text Resizing: Content remains readable and functional when text is resized up to 200%
- Color Independence: Information is not conveyed by color alone
- Responsive Design: Mobile-friendly layout that adapts to different screen sizes
Content Structure
- Clear heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3)
- Descriptive page titles for every page
- Consistent navigation across the site
- Breadcrumb navigation on legal pages
- Table of contents for long-form content
Forms and Interactions
- Clear, descriptive labels for all form fields
- Inline error messages that identify and explain input errors
- Required fields clearly marked
- Sufficient time limits (or ability to extend time)
- Confirmation messages for form submissions
Multimedia
- Text alternatives for non-text content
- Captions for video content (when applicable)
- Audio descriptions for video content (when applicable)
Motion and Animation
- Respects
prefers-reduced-motionuser setting - No auto-playing video or audio

Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations may exist. We are actively working to remediate these issues:
Third-Party Content
- PDF Documents: Some downloadable resources (guides, checklists) are in PDF format. We strive to ensure PDFs are tagged and accessible, but legacy documents may not meet WCAG standards. If you need an alternative format, please contact us.
- Embedded Maps: Google Maps integration may not be fully accessible. Text-based addresses are provided as alternatives.
- Social Media Widgets: LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter embeds are managed by third parties and may not meet accessibility standards.
Content in Development
- Newly published content undergoes accessibility review before going live, but temporary issues may occur.
- Case studies and resources uploaded by admin users are reviewed for accessibility.
Browser and Assistive Technology Support
Our website is tested with:
- Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest versions)
- Screen Readers: NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS)
- Devices: Desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
If you experience issues with a specific browser or assistive technology, please let us know.
