Diversified Safety & Compliance is hiring a 1099 Field Collector in the Omaha, NE area to perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing for local employers. Flexible schedule, mobile collections, and training may be available.

About the Role

Diversified Safety & Compliance is seeking a dependable Independent Contractor Field Collector to provide DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing services in Omaha, Nebraska, and the surrounding metro area.

This role supports employers who need professional, accurate, and timely workplace testing for pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, follow-up, and other testing events. Collections may take place at employer locations, job sites, clinics, terminals, construction sites, warehouses, or other approved collection locations.

The right candidate will be professional, detail-oriented, confidential, and able to work independently. This role requires someone who can follow strict procedures, complete documentation accurately, maintain proper chain-of-custody, and represent Diversified Safety & Compliance well in the field.

Because the Omaha area includes a large number of transportation, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, municipal, logistics, and safety-sensitive employers, this role is a good fit for someone who is responsive, reliable, comfortable traveling throughout the metro, and able to handle scheduled and occasional urgent testing needs.

Prior experience in drug testing, occupational health, medical assisting, nursing, EMS, law enforcement, safety, human resources, transportation, or compliance is preferred, but not required for the right person. Training may be available for qualified applicants who are not currently DOT collector or alcohol testing certified.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT and Non-DOT urine specimen collections according to required procedures.
  • Conduct breath alcohol testing and/or screening test technician services when qualified.
  • Complete Federal Custody and Control Forms, Alcohol Testing Forms, and related documentation accurately.
  • Maintain proper chain-of-custody, specimen security, confidentiality, and testing integrity.
  • Travel to employer locations for mobile, on-site, and post-accident testing events.
  • Assist with pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.
  • Communicate professionally with employers, employees, DERs, dispatch, and internal team members.
  • Package and ship specimens properly to certified laboratories.
  • Follow company procedures, DOT requirements, and client-specific instructions.
  • Respond to scheduled collections and occasional after-hours or emergency testing requests.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional communication skills and appearance.
  • Smartphone, computer, email, and basic technology proficiency.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel within Omaha, Douglas County, Sarpy County, Council Bluffs, and the surrounding metro area.
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, including occasional urgent or after-hours collections.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DOT-qualified urine specimen collector.
  • DOT-qualified Breath Alcohol Technician or Screening Test Technician.
  • Experience with DOT drug and alcohol testing, occupational health, or workplace safety programs.
  • Background in nursing, medical assisting, EMS, law enforcement, military, safety, transportation, HR, or compliance.
  • Familiarity with post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, pre-employment, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.
  • Experience working with employers, drivers, field crews, warehouse teams, construction crews, or safety-sensitive employees.
  • Ability to stay calm, professional, and accurate during urgent or time-sensitive testing events.
